The purpose of this build was to make a reliable track day car, by using the newest generation Miata, keeping the drivetrain stock, and adding some modifications for extra reliability. In addition, we wanted to go well beyond what most track days required for safety equipment. During the course of the build, other business and life priorities have caused this project to stall out, and rather than let it sit some more time unfinished, we'd rather sell it to someone who can complete it and enjoy it.
This 2016 Miata Sport with 7900 miles was purchased from an insurance auction as a "salvage rebuildable" title due to some accident damage. The damage was relatively light, to the front, and passenger side. It was fixed by a local body shop, then the whole car was repainted in the factory "Soul Red" color. Both fenders and front bumper were purchased new from Mazda, and a good used passenger door, hood, pass sideskirt, radiator support and rear bumper were used to complete the repairs. Pictures of before the car were fixed are available upon request. It was meant to be a track car from day one, so we stripped out the unnecessary interior, trunk and ac components in preparation for this.
After receiving the car back from the body shop we got to work installing the aftermarket and OEM upgrade parts. The upgraded parts currently installed on the car are:
Ohlins Road and Track DRV Coilovers with "Race" springs of 10k front and 6k rear
949 Racing Wheels, 17x9" wheels
Bridgestone Potenza RE71R Tires, 245/40/17
Progress Front and Rear sway bars
RoadsterSport front sway bar end links
Karcepts offset front upper control arm bushings (for increased negative camber)
Factory LSD (good used unit)
Factory front Brembo brakes (good used condition)
Porterfield R4 front and rear brake pads
Stainless steel brake lines
Koyo aluminum radiator
Mishimoto oil cooler kit
RoadsterSport Race muffler
DG Motorsports fiberglass hardtop
Sparco Sprint V seats (x 2)
Sparco Seat Sliders (x 2)
Planted brand seat mounting bases / brackets (x 2)
Sparco R375 Suede steering wheel
NRG quick release kit
Works Bell hub adapter
Redline fluids for transmission and differential
Parts included, but not installed are:
MiataCage full roll cage kit
Roll cage padding and floor grip plates
Convex rearview mirror and mount
Sparco HANS 6 point cam-lock harness (x 2)
ESS Fire Suppression system
The car currently runs and drives, but has a few electrical bugs to work out. The cluster loses communication with the rest of the car after about 10 minutes of running. We've narrowed it down to the start/ stop module, which would need a trip to the Mazda dealer to correct. There are a couple damaged connectors on the front of the car that lead to airbag sensors or marker lights which were not being used on this build. Will need a new windshield, available from Safelite, after cage install.
Selling the car as-is with the cage and related safety items uninstalled, so that someone else can complete it. Selling it only as a TRACK CAR, with the FL Rebuildable Title, NOT as a street car. In order to register and drive it on the street you'd need to make the car factory complete (including a full interior and airbags), for the state inspection, which is not recommended for this specific car.
Selling for $17950 plus tax, as is, with all of the aforementioned parts. We can also remove any combination of the aftermarket parts or even the drivetrain (if you're looking to do an engine swap) and lower the price accordingly. Not looking for any trades.
