Description

1999-2001 Porsche 996 911 Carrera 3.4l Engine Long Block / M96/04

Donor Car:

2001 Porsche 996 911 Carrera Cabriolet - 87K

Functionality:

Removed from a running and driving car, fully tested prior to dismantling. Engine started and idled smoothing at 750rpm. Engine revved smoothly with no hesitations or misfires. We have compression tested this engine with good results (Passenger: 170-165-165 / Driver: 160-165-165). We were also able to perform a cylinder leakdown test with <5% leakdown across each cylinder.

We have inspected each cylinder bore with a borescope camera after removal from the vehicle. We did find very minor wear marks in the cylinder wall surfaces if cylinder # 1, 3, and 6. The severity of this wear is not indicative of catastrophic cylinder bore scoring. We have included photos of the cylinder wall condition above.

The engine had very heavy oil residue from the front main seal, valve cover gaskets, and rear main seal. As well as heavier oil leak residue from the factory Air / oil separator and oil cooler, which are common issues on these. We suggest replacing these gaskets, as well as any other easy to access seals while the engine is removed from the vehicle. Oil and coolant have been drained with no abnormalities. Will ship drained of all fluids.

Physical Condition:

In good physical condition, Engine block has not been hit or cracked in any way. Free off any major surface rusting or corrosion. The exhaust manifold studs typically rust and seized due to the extreme heat. We were able to remove all exhaust studs with no damage. You will need to source new exhaust studs for installation. The IMS bearing appears to be the original factory sealed unit as shown.

Includes the engine long block, cylinder heads, oil pan, crank pulley, water pump, alternator, AC compressor, Power steering pump, intake manifold, throttle body, wiring harness, fuel rails, injectors, coil packs, and starter motor as shown. You will need to reuse some of your existing hardware and components for installation.

Fits:

1999, 2000, 2001 Porsche 996 911 Carrera 3.4l (w/ electronic throttle body)

Fitment Notes:

Removed from a 2001 Porsche 996 911 Carrera 2 with the 3.4l engine, tiptronic automatic transmission, and 87k original miles. This engine has the electronic throttle body found on 2000-2001 models equipped with PSM / TC. This can be used for models equipped with the cable throttle control, however you will need to transfer over some of your existing components for use. This engine will physically fit vehicles with the automatic transmissions, however there may be some differences such as wiring and sensors that will need to be swapped over from your old engine. Will NOT fit turbocharged models or vehicles equipped with the X51 package.

Engine Code - M96.04 (interchangeable with M96.01 and M96.02 engine codes)

Warranty Information:

This engine comes with a 90 day warranty that begins on the day the engine is received by the buyer. The warranty covers the engine block, crankshaft, pistons, rods, bearings, oil pump, cylinder head, head gasket, camshafts, valves and lifters against any defects that prevent the engine from operating as intended from the factory or make noises consistent with damaged engine internals ( rod knock, spun bearings, etc). Every engine we list has been fully run tested, compression tested and when possible test driven to make sure it runs smoothly, makes no odd noises and does not overheat.

What is not included in the warranty is common wear and tear items such as: timing belt, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, spark plug wires, sensors and seals. While these items were in working condition at the time of testing, their lifespan is usually shorter than the internals of the engine and are therefore not covered under warranty. If any seals or gaskets are leaking at the time the engine is being tested and removed, or any sensors broken or defective, they will be noted in the item description. No labor, diagnostic or towing costs will be covered under warranty. In the event of a warranty claim, please be prepared to supply pictures, video and/or a statement from a shop/mechanic to validate the claim. For diagnostic purposes during the process of a warranty claim, the engine must remain in the car as installed. Beginning the removal process or any disassembly of the engine prior to our approval will void the warranty. This warranty is non-transferrable. It is only applicable to the original purchaser.

Situations that will void the warranty:

Overheating of the engine. We install "heat indicator tabs" on every engine prior to shipping that show when an engine has been operated at a temperature significantly higher than normal operating temperature. If these tabs show signs of overheating, the warranty will be void. If the engine in your car is being replaced due to damage from an overheating condition please locate and fix the source of the issue prior to running your new engine.

Not running fresh oil and oil filter in the engine (these engines ship drained of all fluids).

Installation of an aftermarket turbocharger/supercharger, Nitrous Oxide kit, or aftermarket tune.

Installation errors that are found to have caused the engine to run improperly.

Operation outside of normal intended road usage, such as track days, racing, drifting, etc.

Disassembly of the engine besides basic preventative maintenance such as oil seals, spark plugs, cooling system, and timing belts. Removing the cylinder head, head gasket changes, replacing or modifying internal rotating components such as bearings/camshafts/crankshafts, and other major work done to engine would void warranty.

****If there are any areas of concern on an engine you received or have questions about work you will be performing on it, please inform us as soon as possible. Communication in the early stages can help clarify any warranty questions or resolve any issues ahead of time****
